Court resumes hearing in LT Tamba, Sarjo Fofana treason trials

The Special Criminal Court sitting in Banjul and presided over by Justice Joseph Ikpala has resumed hearings into the treason trial of former chief of defense staff, Lt Gen Lang Tombong Tamba and former chief of naval sta+ff, Rear Admiral Sarjo Fofana. The two are standing trial for complicity in the March 2006 botched coup. According to prosecutors, the accused persons were aware of the coup plot, but they did not report it to appropriate authorities on time.

Police nabs three for armed robbery

The Gambia Police has arrested three people: Abdoulie Bah of Kerr Tubai Village in Lower Niumi, Abdoulie Jeng of Kalagi village in Foni Jarrol and Pa Sakumba Bob of Barra for armed robbery. A fourth suspect, Babucarr Sey, a Senegalese national was at large.
