New nursery school inaugurated at Manjai

 A new nursery school, Seino Kindergarten Nursery School in Manjai-Kunda was Saturday inaugurated as the first batch of pupils also graduated to Grade One for the first time since the school started operation ten years ago.

Speaking at the inauguration and the graduation ceremony respectively, Mrs. Sukai Mbye Bojang of The Gambia National Commission NATCOM/UNESCO described the new school’s environment as teacher and parent friendly, adding that the development of the school is remarkable.
 
Mrs. Bojang said UNESCO always encourage the use of local language to teach young people at their tender age adding that when they start to speak local language frequently, they will develop good memory.

She also said that if the young people speak local language at their tender age they would be able to learn other languages easily. She thanked the proprietor for SEINO Kindergarten, Lower and Upper Basic Schools, Mrs. Aji Haddy Saine for giving her the opportunity to inaugurate and preside over the first graduation ceremony at the school.

For his part, the co-ordinator of SEINO Kindergarten School Lamin O. Sallah informed the parents that SEINO Kindergarten School started operation in October 2000 with 24 students adding that but now, they have an enrolment of 229 out of which 111were boys and 118 were girls. Mr. Sallah said the main purpose of establishing SEINO Kindergarten School is to give quality education and guidance in early childhood to their students, to eradicate illiteracy without discrimination or ill will.

He said 93 pupils completed their childhood care development education at Seino Kindergarten School in the 2009/10 school academic year, out of which 50 were boys while 43 were girls. He said apart from SEINO Kindergarten they also have SEINO Lower and Upper Basic Schools and now their target is to build SEINO Senior Secondary School in future. Mr. Sallah asserted that at SEINO Kindergarten School, they teach all the four core subjects namely English, Mathematics, Science and Social and Environment Studies, adding that they have qualified teachers and fully equipped classrooms with educational learning materials.
